Jaguar Auto Maintenance
- Jaguar cars require an annual tune-up or one at 5,000 miles, whichever comes first. At this check-up, it is important to change out the oil and oil filter. Jaguar cars should be service with the weight of the oil as specified in the owners manual. It is recommended that all Jaguar cars use Mobil oil. At this service, you should also grease and lubricate all the moving locks, handles and moving components on the body of the car, such as doors and hoods. Check all the fluids in the car and fill them up. It is important to check the windshield wipers at this point to see if they are worn and need to be changed. This will depend on the climate of the area in which you live. All the hoses and belts will need to be changed at this point.
- Tires and rims to the Jaguar are quite unique and need to be treated as such. If you need to replace the tires on your Jaguar, make sure to get ones recommended in your owner's manual--Goodyear and Michelin. Buying tires not recommended by the company will void the warranty on your car if they cause damage to the alignment and shocks. The specific sizes required by your vehicle can be found in your manual or by going to a tire service. To keep your tires healthy, check monthly that they are filled to the correct pressure and are not worn in one area. Make sure to have the tires rotated at 10,000 miles.
- A Jaguar car will run smoothly with some regular maintenance that you can do yourself at home. One of the most important things you can do is keep your engine clean. Engines that are clean run at a cooler temperature than those running covered in oil, dirt and other fluids. Make sure to check the hoses regularly in the engine to see if there are any apparent leaks. You can do this by squeezing the hoses gently, and checking under the car for pools of liquid. If anything looks corroded on the inside of your car, have it replaced. Check your temperature sensors to ensure they are running properly. If your engine is running too hot, but the sensors are not reading this, you may be experiencing performance issues without realizing it.
