- One of the features that attracts campers and RV travelers to Big Bear every year is the snow. Each winter campers flock to Big Bear Mountain to snowboard or ski its slopes. Another attraction, whose season is earlier in the year, is fishing. There are a lot of chartered fishing trips that campers can go on while the locals explain about the history of Big Bear. During the summer months, Big Bear hosts a replica of a 16th century Spanish Galleon where visitors can take a 90-minute tour and enjoy refreshments from the onboard bar.
- From January through March is when the snow conditions are at their best and this is when campers can partake in events such as snowshoe cross country races, downhill skiing races and other activities where participants can win prizes and cash. April is a big month for campers and RV travelers who love fishing because this is when the fishing season opens. There are fishing competitions and events all around the lake at many of the camp sites and parks. Spring is also the time for the Spring Air Home and Garden Show. With a renaissance faire, two film festivals and Oktoberfest, RVrs and campers will be tempted to stay all year especially when they hear about the torchlight parade on New Year's Eve. Skiers and snowboarders descend slowly down Big Bear Mountain all carrying torches, creating a trail of light that leads all the way to the summit.
- There are a few campgrounds, parks and resorts surrounding Big Bear Lake. Some of these are at a higher elevation and rent out mostly cabins while others accommodate tent campers and RV travelers. Two of the camp sites are so close to the lake that they actually have their own marina.
