Rio tells the story of Blu (voice of Jesse Eisenberg), a blue macaw who is the last male of his kind. Blu is a pet bird, and he lives happily with his owner and best friend, Linda (voice of Leslie Mann). Both book-loving homebodies, Blu and Linda go on the adventure of their lives when a Brazilian ornithologist named Tulio (voice of Rodrigo Santoro) invites them to Rio de Janeiro so that Blu can meet the last female of his kind, Jewel (voice of Anne Hathaway).
Director Carlos Saldanha had the idea to bring Rio to life in animation as a tribute to his home country.

His obvious love for his birth country comes through in this flavorful film that features an exciting storyline, vibrant animation, and a lively samba/hip-hop/electro fusion soundtrack.
