To Niche Or Not to Niche, Part 2 - How Much Must I Already Know?

But you have no idea where to begin.

" It could literally be anything: antique cars, anti-aging skin care solutions, self-help books for stay-at-home dads; and so on.
Maybe you want specialize in marketing golf gear to women lawyers.
Maybe your passion is finding and distributing parts for '67 Mustang convertibles.
Maybe you want to work part time being a Affiliate Marketer for Argentinean Tango shoes.
If you already know exactly what you want to sell -- GREAT! You have your niche.
Your next step is researching how well you can monetize your passion.
But if you don't know what you want to sell, niching can fell like muddy and murky waters.
Don't get too bogged down in this.
First of all, most people who are in sales don't sell just one thing for their entire lives.
Pick your first niche knowing that there will be more/other niches in the future.
You can decide later on whether new niches will be additional or replace what you're doing now.
Again, that's a decision for the future; your first step is just to say "I would enjoy selling *that*.
" So you don't overwhelm yourself, start with just one or two.
Second, as long as you are willing to continually learn, it is rarely necessary to be an expert when you first get started.
When you choose a niche you are committing to doing whatever it takes to quickly become an authority on the subject.
With time, more learning, and a lot of experience, you will eventually become an expert.
