Swimming Pool Shock Directions
- 1). Fill the 5-gallon bucket with warm water for dissolving the shock granules quickly.
- 2). Plan to shock the pool at night after the sun goes down so the chlorine does not dissipate under the hot sun. Close off the pool to swimmers for 12 hours after adding chlorine-based shock.
- 3). Measure out 1 lb. of calcium hypochlorite per 10,000 gallons of water if the pool is clean. Use 2 lbs. of shock per 10,000 gallons of water if the pool is cloudy or showing signs of algae.
- 4). Pour the granular shock into the bucket of warm water. Wait for the granules to dissolve in the bucket.
- 5). Turn on the pump filter so it runs all night to circulate the water. Pour the dissolved calcium hypochlorite in the deep end of the pool, while walking from the beginning of the deep end around to the end of the deep end on the other side.
