How to Fix Speaker Wires in a Finished Basement
- 1). Remove the screws that secure the speaker to the ceiling or the wall to access the wires.
- 2). Detach the wire from the speaker and set the speaker aside.
- 3). Cut the end of the speaker wire with wire cutters.
- 4). Strip about 1/2 inch of insulation off the end of the wire with wire strippers.
- 5). Reattach the wire to the speaker, then secure the speaker back onto the wall or the ceiling with screws.
- 6). Turn on your stereo system to determine if the speaker is working properly.
- 1). Remove the screws that secure the speaker to the ceiling or the wall to access the wires.
- 2). Detach the wire from the speaker and set the speaker aside. Disconnect the speaker wire from your stereo receiver.
- 3). Connect the end of the speaker wire you disconnected from your receiver to the end of a new section of speaker wire with electrical tape.
- 4). Pull the speaker wire through the hole in the wall or the ceiling until the taped section of wire comes through the hole.
- 5). Remove the tape, then discard the old speaker cable. Strip the insulation off the end of the new wire with wire strippers and connect it to the speaker.
