Drug use has reached alarming rates in our country amongst people of all ages (from pre-teens to senior citizens).
What does this mean to our society? You might ask...
Many of society's problems originate from drug abuse; theft, family violence, street violence, vehicular accidents, low work performance, low school grades, absenteeism are just but a few examples.
I'm sure that you either know someone or are related to someone that abuses drugs.
Having a child or a spouse that abuses drugs not only ruins the relationship but places great stress on the entire family dynamics.
A child that uses drugs will lie to the parents to hide his/ her drug habits and might even steal money from the family to continue buying drugs.
A parent that abuses drugs is not able to maintain a job and therefore will not be able to provide for his/her family.
Students that abuse drugs have poor grades, inferior scholastic performance and are violent towards their teachers and peers.
Frequent absenteeism and truancy are also very common amongst students that abuse drugs.
If no one intervenes to curtail the drug abusing habit, the student might even choose to drop out of school in order to continue his/her path of self-destruction.
If we want our children to become productive, successful members of society, more schools should implement drug testing programs for students and teachers.
Employers lose so much money every year because of theft, low production, poor service, lack of product quality, absenteeism, etc.
Most of these issues are caused by drug abusing personnel.
The employers have no other alternative but enforce mandatory drug testing programs in order to survive as a business.
On a daily basis, people die in traffic accidents caused by people driving under the influence of drugs and (or) alcohol.
Most cities around the nation have mandatory drug testing after an accident.
We need these drug testing programs to keep all of us as safe as possible.
I realize the drug testing programs might seem a bit invasive but in today's society these programs are absolutely necessary in order to have a safe and sane environment.
Employers that have a drug testing program in place see an immediate improvement in job performance, improved personnel morale, higher profits, happier customers and less job related accidents.
While there are people that oppose mandatory drug testing, there are many others that embrace it with open arms.
On which side of the fence are you?
