How to Restore a Multiple Display to a Single One in Windows XP
- 1). Halt activity. Minimize all programs and applications until only the desktop is visible on both screens. Use the "Show Desktop" icon in the "Quick Launch" toolbar to quickly minimize all windows at once.
- 2). Access "Display Properties." Right-click the desktop, and then select "Properties" in the pop-up menu.
- 3). Adjust to single display. Click the "Settings" tab in the "Display Properties" window; you should see two squares labeled as "1" and "2." Square "1" is the primary display and square "2" is the extension or secondary display.
Highlight square "2" with your mouse cursor. Glance below the squares and look for the line of text, "Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor"; uncheck the box to the left of this text. Click "Apply" and "OK."
