As society continue to become more advanced, technology has made it possible to perform tasks better and faster than ever before. One such industry where technology has made life easier is in the printing industry. Digital printing is the method of printing a digital-based image, usually located in computers, to a variety of media, including paper, photo paper, canvas or even glass or metal. Though it usually costs higher than traditional printing methods, this high price is usually offset by the savings incurred in avoiding all the technical steps necessary in performing traditional printing practices, such as the creation of printing plates before actual printing can begin. The most common types of digital printers include inkjet and laser printers. Recently, inkjet printers have been used to reproduce famous two-dimensional artworks with the use of dye-based or lightfast pigment-based inks on canvas. Other uses of digital printing include desktop publishing, advertising, and photography.

Though digital printing may be the most advanced way of producing quality prints, there are still some printing tips one can follow to ensure the best possible product from digital printers. First of all, one must choose what paper is best to use for printing. This is quite important since overall finishing and contrast of the produced prints will depend on the type of paper used. One must also provide ample time for the prints to dry before touching or storing them. Just how long this drying time should be depends on the type of ink, printing media and environment. Finally one may want to protect the prints from harmful UV rays in order to maintain its quality and vivid colors.

Digital printing has made leaps-and-bounds in terms of technology. From its humble beginnings using dot-matrix machines, present day laser printers can print high quality, high resolution prints directly from computers in a short time without all the fuss attributed to traditional printing methods. Despite this however, one must still be aware of how to maximize the benefits of digital printing in order to make the most of what this technology has to offer.
