Are You Living Meaningfully?

One thing is for sure - Personal development isn't a topic that everyone immediately warms to or understands and to use another old saying, you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.
In other words, some people will immediately see the benefits of personal development where others will see it as 'mumbo jumbo'.
In order for personal development to be effective, the individual has to be committed to improving all areas of their life and their lifestyle.
In some cases that commitment can be a result of desperation and in others it may be more a case of gut wrenching disgust.
Desperation because the bills have come in and once again there isn't enough money to cover them.
Gut wrenching disgust due to the realization that after 10 or 20 years of hard work they are still struggling to make ends meet.
At that point there are two obvious choices.
They could throw their hands in the air and give up, or they could ask themselves 'what do I need to do to improve this situation?'.
Regardless of the reasons for pursuing a better life or lifestyle, one thing is clear.
There are virtually no negatives when it comes to personal development.
Sacrifices certainly, but that's because most things that are worthwhile have a price.
There is every chance that you will become wiser and more knowledgeable in matters of family, finance, people and life in general.
You will begin to notice things you have never noticed before such as how some people have a very positive attitude to life whilst others seem to be practised cynics.
How we perceive ourselves and our world depends largely on the influences that were around us as children and the influences that are around us as adults.
One of the fundamentals of personal development is the pursuit of information.
Most of us attend schools and universities for anything from ten to fifteen years of our lives.
For many people, once their formal education is completed the only literature they read is the local newspaper or celebrity gossip magazines.
We have libraries in nearly every city with a wealth of free information and yet only around three percent of adults have library cards.
Successful people don't see the end of their formal education as a point in their lives where they should stop learning.
Our schools don't teach subjects such as success or how to become financially independent, so these are skills that we need to study in our adult years.
With a desire to learn and a well designed 'life plan' in place you will become healthier, more knowledgeable and much more satisfied in yourself and your achievements as you learn to get everything you possibly can from each day rather than just get through each day.
