What Is the Weather Like in Las Vegas?
- In the summer, temperatures can reach over 100 degrees during the day but humidity averages around 20 percent, leaving Las Vegas with its infamous "dry heat" that makes high temperatures more tolerable. Cool summer nights are a relief as the temperature can drop by up to 20 degrees.
- Don't expect to hang by the pool in winter when many hotels close their pool areas and average winter temperatures range from lows below 30 degrees Fahrenheit to highs in the 60s. Strong winds of up to 40 miles an hour can also make it feel much colder outside. That said, proper sun protection is still important in Vegas where you can burn easily in every season.
- Las Vegas averages only 4 inches of rain per year with the wettest months in June and August. Floods have been a problem in Las Vegas in the past when large amounts of rain fall in a short period of time, sometimes causing flash floods, though these aren't common. Snow isn't an unusual sight in Las Vegas, with snow falling in December 2003 and the winter of 2008-2009 but melting away in only one or two days.
