It's amazing really ...

Just about every moisturizer I picked up from the shelf at my local store today had paraben as an ingredient. A few products pretending to be 'natural'  had an mineral oil and paraben in them. How they can be classed as natural is beyond me.

So what is paraben ?

The one thing that you have been told that is wrong is that paraben is safe. As far as I concerned this ingredient is far from safe, and you should avoid it at all cost.

I am going to explain to you why paraben free products should be your first choice in skin care products and show you that this preservative which lurks in many beauty products from body moisturizer to shaving gels are not the right path to good skin health.

So why is paraben in so many skin care products ? Paraben is a class of chemicals used mainly for its preservatives qualities. This is why skin care manufacturers love to use it and it is quite inexpensive to use. There has been a debate among people whether paraben is safe to use.

There have also been many studies done on paraben that has  suggested that paraben causes an interference with the body's endocrine system and also may cause skin rashes...or worse cancer. But there has been no conclusive evidence in these studies to suggest whether this is true as yet.

Still this is a concern and would highly suggest avoiding this chemical until further studies have been done. I believe that using a really natural paraben free products are the best way to go. Finding these natural products are quite hard and when you do most of the ingredients are in there scientific name and as a consumer this can be difficult to decipher.

You may look at an ingredient thinking that this is natural when it really maybe actually asynthetic. Do you research and once you figure it out it will become clearer and will make life easier.

The secret weapon I use for my skin are all plant based oils, emollients, antibacterial agents, and preservatives. I have found products by researching on the web or talking to my naturopath. Look for publications that has a natural organic information about paraben free products. They often have total organic product that you can buy via mail order.

I have a short report on skincare which may rattle a few cages in the cosmetic arena and it is really worth reading. It talks about many alarming ingredients that are in skincare but also goes into great detail on what ingredients are best for you skin. As your skin is the largest and thinnest organ on you body and all the hard work it does to protect you from the elements I think it deserves the best .
