Take your family outdoors and enjoy Ohio's extensive park system. Ohio is home to 74 state parks, 132 nature preserves and 20 state forests. Each park offers a variety of free day-use facilities. Choose activities that fit your family. Picnic areas, hiking and backpacking trails, swimming and fishing, road and mountain bike trails or wildlife watching. Play on the basketball and volleyball courts, horse-shoes pits and more. Your pets are welcome in the all-day use areas except the swimming areas, restrooms and other buildings as long as they are on a leash. Many parks offer dog parks and exercise areas. You may only bring two pets into the parks and they must have current rabies shots, ID and license tags.
