• Bembe is a dance club and lounge located in Brooklyn's Williamsburg neighborhood. The club is furnished almost exclusively with found and recycled materials from New York City, and the walls showcase a new local or global artist each month. Music is provided by either a DJ or a live band, and genres are predominately Latin, reggae and dance hall.There is no cover charge, but men traveling without female companions may find it very difficult to get in on weekends. • Sputnik is a restaurant, music venue and nightclub in the Bedford Stuyvesant neighborhood. The club offers a wide range of events, from high billing national music acts to local DJ sets, karaoke and dance parties. The cover charge varies drastically depending on the night, so be sure to check the calendar before you head out. The restaurant serves standard pub fare: burgers, sandwiches, salads and fried snacks. Diners can shake their meal up by ordering their burger with either ostrich or bison meat. Starlite Lounge

• Starlite Lounge is a gay bar and karaoke lounge in the Crown Heights neighborhood. The club prides itself on being inclusive and nondiscriminatory toward people from all walks of life, and the atmosphere is very laid back. The club hosts karaoke on Thursdays and Sundays, and there is usually a happy hour going on well into the evening. Weekends are usually reserved for dancing, and DJs often play house and hip hop. The Bell House

• The Bell House is a lounge and performance venue located in the Gowanus neighborhood. The lounge in the front of the Bell House, called the "front(ier) lounge," offers 12 kinds of draft beers, specialty cocktails and food. The venue in back hosts a number of comedy shows and live music acts, in addition to book readings, public radio sessions and annual parties celebrating events like the academy awards.
