How to Check Pool Table Cushions
- 1). Squeeze the cushions between your thumb and fingers. If they are hard as rock, or squishy, it is most likely time to replace them.
- 2). Place your thumb on the outside edge and your fingers against the cushions. Wiggle the cushions slightly. There should be little if any movement. If they wiggle easily, they may be pulling away from the sides. If the pulling is not advanced, staple or glue the cushion back in place.
- 3). Set a pool ball in the center of the table. Roll it as hard as you can between two side rails. Count the number of times the pool ball makes contact. If it is four or less, the cushions are wearing down.
- 4). Roll the ball against the cushion. If it makes a "thud" sound, it is likely the cushions are dry rotted and require replacement. A ball that does not actively rebound is also an indication that the cushions need to be replaced.
