Cartridge filters use a paper to simply filter the pool water clean of debris and other particles.
This is a great choice compared to sand filters.
Paper filters are submerged inside a cylindrical tank.
Unfiltered water comes in through the inlet, which immerse through the outside of the paper cartridge into its interior.
Filtered water will pass through the cartridge leaving the debris and dirt behind.
Paper filter needs replacement every three to five years interval.
Not easy to maintain but the process of replacing the paper is quite easy.
One disadvantage is its inconvenience in replacing the paper filter and by doing so is also quite expensive.
Diatomaceous Earth filter uses the biological method of filtering to clean the swimming pool water.
It is a natural method that uses a pre-mixed compound available in powder form.
This can be easily mixed to the pool filter or directly into the pool as well.
A skimmer could be used to evenly distribute the mixture into the pool.
The pool filter also blends the mixture thoroughly.
It is basically a canister which has a chamber of fingers or tubes and plates.
The fingers and plates are coated with diatomaceous earth which is a fine white powder of crushed sea fossils or diatoms.
This traps dirt and debris from the water as they pass through.
It is the most advanced type of pool filter and the quality of its filtration is the best among the three types.
