    Information Providers

    • Select a stock market information provider. Two are included in References, but stock price history information is also available from many other sources. If you trade through an online brokerage, you may also be able to get stock price history information from your broker's website.

    Stock Data from Yahoo! Finance

    • To get a stock's history from Yahoo!, visit the Yahoo! Finance subdomain, enter the stock's ticker symbol in the search box in the upper left hand corner, and click "Get Quotes." You will be directed to the summary page for that particular stock, which displays the current price, some recent stock price benchmarks and basic financial information for the company. Find the price chart on the right hand side of the page, and click on one of the time range links below it. This brings up a line graph showing the stock's price performance over time, with a secondary bar graph below it displaying trading volumes. When you move your mouse over the price chart, you will see a point move along the graph indicating your position in time, and in the upper left hand corner of the chart, you will see the stock's closing price on that specific date. Alternatively, click on the "Historical Prices" link from the sidebar menu on the left to view the stock's price history in table data format: a very long list of day-by-day trading information, including the stock price open, close, intraday high, intraday low and volume.

    Stock Research With MSN Moneycentral

    • You can get a stock's history from MSN by visiting the MSN Moneycentral subdomain. Choose "Stock Research" from the sidebar of the Moneycentral homepage; then click "Quotes" from the sidebar on the next page; and on the following page, click "Historical." Enter a ticker symbol in the search box in the upper right hand corner of the Charts page and click "Go" to view a stock's price history as a graph.

For a more analytical overview of the stock price history, visit the Moneycentral homepage, choose "Investing" from the navigation bar at the top of the page, then click "Research Wizard" from the Stocks category in the left sidebar. Enter the ticker symbol in the search box in the upper right hand corner, and click "Go." This brings up general information about the company. Under Guided Research in the left sidebar, click "Price History" to read an overview of the stock's price performance, including a comparison to the company's overall industry group, and technical support and resistance as determined by the 52-week high, 50-day moving average and 200-day moving average.
