Genfoam Instructions for Cleaning a Cartridge Type Pool Filter
- 1). Unplug the pool filter and remove the filter cartridge according to the owner's manual.
- 2). Set the filter in a flat area within reach of a garden hose.
- 3). Spray the cartridge filter inside and out with the garden hose to remove loose dirt and debris.
- 4). Remove oil buildup from the filter by filling a large bucket with 5 gallons of water and 1 lb. trisodium phosphate. Mix it well with a long-handled spoon.
- 5). Submerge the filter in the bucket and allow it to sit for 12 hours. One hour before the soaking is finished, add 1/2 pint pool chlorine or 1 pint bleach to the bucket to remove algae.
- 6). Remove the filter and rinse it thoroughly with a garden hose. Allow the filter to air dry completely. This may take several hours.
- 7). Brush the filter with a soft-bristled brush gently. Don't brush the pleated areas.
- 8). Replace the filter in the filter housing according to the owner's manual. Plug in the pool filter.
