How to Restring a Strimmer
- 1). Remove the cap from the bottom of the trimmer. This cap holds in the disk that houses the string. Push the lock button on the disk with your finger and turn it counter-clockwise to unlock it.
- 2). Take the disk out and remove any pieces of broken string. These may clog up the distribution holes on the cap if they are left in the disk. Restring the disk by doubling the new string. This will give you two different lengths connected on one end. Place the connected end through the slot on the disk.
- 3). Use your hand to turn the disk so the trimmer string winds around the disk. Keep winding as much string as you want to install. Leave about 5 inches of string extending out from the coil. Cut the string from the spool with scissors. Place one end of the string into the upper disk slot. Wind the second end halfway around the disk and place it through the upper disk slot.
- 4). Reattach the disk to the trimmer and place both ends of the string through the string distribution holes. Place the cap back on the trimmer, and secure it tightly with your hand.
