5 Steps To Cleaner Skin

No one wants to have blemishes, acne, or wrinkles on their face and body. Having the cleanest skin possible isn't anything to be ashamed of; neither is having "dirty" skin. Some people, due to genetics just have more oily, dry or sensitive skin. The good news is that there are ways to clean your skin thoroughly enough to prevent or treat the most common types of skin complications. So what can you do to get your skin the cleanest it can possibly be? Here are the five best ways to keep your skin as clean as it can possibly be.

1. Cleanse.
The use of a daily facial cleanser is nothing new to most people, but did you know that many face washes contain ingredients that are actually known to irritate skin. Avoid washing your face with soap as it has a tendency to dry out the skin. Look for an all natural facial cleanser made with Tangerine Oil or Chamomile as these are fantastic natural astringents and antiseptics that wash away dirt, excess oil, oil and bacteria, while still being mild enough even for the most sensitive skin. Be sure not to over wash or scrub your face too hard because it can increase inflammation, and make any acne that may be present irritated.

2. Eat and Drink Right
I can't stress enough how important proper water intake and a healthy diet can be for your skin. Everyone and I do mean everyone should be drinking at least eight to ten glasses of water every day. Water flushes out the toxins and dead cells from the skin, while improving elasticity and overall health. Eating a diet rich in antioxidants and vitamins C, A, and E helps to promote helps keep the skin wrinkle free as well as protecting from sun damage (obviously, always wear sun block). Apples, oranges, leafy greens, carrots, mangos, apricots, and broccoli are all excellent sources of essential antioxidants and vitamins.

3. Stop Smoking
We all know that smoking is bad for the body, causing lung cancer, heart problems, and a bunch of other potentially fatal conditions. Smoking also destroys or better yet, steals essential vitamin C from our body. Seeing as we cannot produce vitamin C on our own, we need an outside source. Smoking a cigarette pretty much negates the vitamins in that mango or glass of OJ this morning.

4. Moisturize
Using a moisturizer daily helps keep the skin quenched and provides protection from wrinkles, dryness and irritation. Be wary of moisturizers with artificial fragrances as they are known to cause skin irritation.

5. Don't Touch
Unless your hands were just washed don't touch your face as you can easily transfer dirt and bacteria from your hands to your face, which leads to clogged pores and pimples. By no means should you pop a pimple or cyst. Popping any type of acne can lead to some very deep and unsightly blemishes, in which case a scar fading cream or some other type of treatment may be required. Of course you should speak with a physician or dermatologist before starting any type of acne regimen.

Follow these steps and you should be well on your way to healthy, clean skin. Making sure you take the necessary measures to keep your skin protected and nourished is the safest and most effective way to cleaner skin
