Getting a rush of adrenaline when you watch a sports game or being on a ride at an amusement park can be exhilarating for most people, but an unexpected rush of adrenaline for an anxiety sufferer can be terrifying.
This is because their rushing adrenaline is caused by things that would not normally trigger it.
Handling situations that might cause most people a little discomfort, could lead an anxiety sufferer into a full blown attack.
This could mean breathlessness, rapid heartbeat, and an overall sense of impending doom! When you live in a world where the least little thing can unexpectedly turn you into a mass of walking nerve is no easy thing to deal with.
You have to learn to avoid situations that might trigger anxiety attacks and if you can not completely avoid them, you have to know how to deal with one moment by moment.
If you feel the familiar sensations that alert you to an oncoming attack, like a rapid heart rate, sudden sweating or even nausea, do your best to focus your mind somewhere besides on what is causing the attack.
Find a focal point and concentrate on that while you try to breath more slowly and evenly.
Rapid breathing only intensifies the attack.
If the attack persists, use a paper bag to breath in and out of.
It might sound corny, but it works! It does take practice to learn to lessen the severity of an attack if you are unable to completely stop them, but you can do it.
Learn what your specific fears are.
Avoid people that really stress you out.
Gather as much information as you can about other things to avoid and ways you might change certain aspects of your life in order to limit or eliminate attacks.
Anxiety self help and natural anxiety remedies are available in many different forms these days because so many suffer with this condition.
Try different methods of calming yourself until you find the right formula for you.
