How to Remove an AC Jack From a Laptop Motherboard

    • 1). Flip the motherboard over so you are looking at the bottom of the power jack. The power jack will typically have around five prongs that come through the motherboard and are secured with a small amount of solder.

    • 2). Heat up the solder on one of the prongs until it begins to turn to liquid.

    • 3). Use the de-soldering tool to suck up as much of the liquid solder as possible. Continue this process one by one on all the prongs of the power jack.

    • 4). Wiggle the power jack free, gently, using your fingers or pliers. If the power jack does not come free, you may have to try and use the de-soldering tool again to remove more solder.
