If your bedroom is limited in space or you just prefer to place your bed in the corner as a preference, there are ways that you can decorate and enjoy the corner positioning. You may have experienced a few problems doing this before, but with a few easy tips in utilizing the openness you can enjoy your room's new, more spacious yet functional design. - Chances are the new corner position may have you perplexed on where to place items like your dressers, night tables and lamps. If you have room at the foot of your bed for a dresser, place it against the wall and use the dresser as a stand for a lamp and/or the television. Get mix-matched night stands that fit the theme of your bedroom décor and use one functionally for storing your magazines, glasses or remote controls at the head of the bed and place the other as a table across the room. If you are sharing your corner bedroom with a loved one, instead of trying to bring in both nightstands, select the one that will be at the head of the bed as the one the two of you share at night.
- As you learn to play with shapes, consider the purpose for placing your bed in the corner. If your choice of location is to save space in a small room, eliminate the common pairs that would be found in the bedroom. Nightstands, dual dressers, bookcases and lamps do not need to be selected as pairs. Try using large single pieces, brighter lamps and taller or wider bookcases so that you can select one item for your design space.
- Don't forget to use the empty space on your walls--not only for storage, but in terms of painting techniques to open up your room. Consider painting the wall where the bulk of the bed rests as a focal point by using a different color altogether. Decorate the wall with floating shelves and accentuate with wall art such as paintings. On the accent walls, hang matching shelves to use as storage for some items that may have occupied valuable floor space like DVD storage, books and magazines. Utilizing the wall space will allow more room on your floor for workouts, walking space or a portable table or desk station.
