Don't you just hate it when your dry skin care lotion doesn't help prevent you from itching the dry irritated areas. Learn about what to look for when finding a healthy effective skincare lotion.

You'll have to do a bit of research though because not many dry skincare products that say they're for dry skin work.

Everyone has had dry skin at one time or another and the winter season is the worst. And once the winter season rolls around, so do the skincare products that promise to give you soft skin.

Let's take a look at the dry skincare products to see if they do deliver what they say and if they're even effective.

You discovered, from your research, that the causes of dry itchy skin are not only from the environment, but other factors like: the loss of collagen and elastin proteins, diet and soap products.

The loss of collagen and elastin is intriguing because a large number of lotions advertise that collagen is added to help replenish your lost moisture thus resulting in smoother, more supple, and younger looking skin.

But do those dry skin care products actually add collagen protein to your body -- what have they not told you?

Yes, collagen is an important protein in our body but so is elastin. Both proteins, in our younger years, were abundant and responsible for our skin to be supple, pliant and smooth.

But here's the part all those advertisements didn't tell you. They left out the part that tells you that collagen is insignificant in skincare products because collagen is too big of a molecule to penetrate the epidermis. Even if you constantly apply the lotion or cream to your skin and rub it in...it's all for not.

So, if you want to prevent dry itchy skin you still need to boost your levels of collagen and elastin but you'll need to research natural ingredients that can help your body naturally produce more of these proteins.

After researching the topic of dry skin care, I have found some of these natural ingredients. One is called Cynergy TK the other is Phytessence Wakame.

The first ingredient is called Cynergy TK. This natural ingredient is extracted from the wool of New Zealand sheep. It's a new exciting, cutting edge ingredient that has been proven in clinical trials to stimulate the re-growth of collagen and also elastin.

When Cynergy TK was put through some studies, it was shown to:

• have a sustained 14% improvement in skin moisture retention over 18 days, and
• also sustained 42% improvement in skin elasticity over 18 days.

Phytessence Wakame is another natural ingredient. A variety of kelp (native to the Japanese Sea), this natural ingredient is used to:

• keep skin moisturized, smooth and elastic (younger looking)
• increases skin elasticity
• slows down the activity of hyaluronidase (an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid in the skin)

Not only does Phytessence Wakame work at keeping your skin moisturized and younger looking, it's healthy for your skin! The kelp is rich in sodium, iron, potassium and calcium, plus B-group vitamins. These minerals are important to keep the skin looking healthy and firm.

Make no mistake about it, these are just a couple of the healthy, powerful, effective natural ingredients used in dry skin care products that are unknown to most people living in the Western world yet they are available to them. You can get a more in-depth skin care information at my website.
