If you are a beginner photographer and want to learn the art of nature photography, you best bet is to take classes and study the form. Nature photography is very different than taking portraits and posted shots of family and friends. When the moment is gone, it's gone. Study will show you how to begin.

Do some research on the internet for learn what the best equipment is for nature and wildlife photography. You need a good high resolution camera for the best results. Over time, invest in a zoom lense as well as a wide-angle lense. A good digital camera will offer you a good zoom distance. If you can shoot animals in the wild, you need to be well back in order not to scare them off.

Close-up shots of small insects, leaf pattern rose buds etc. can be taken with a good close up lense or again, a good digital camera that has all these features built in. There are numerous choices for digital cameras and you'll find 100's of reviews all over the Internet. Study the websites for the information you need about their products.

For the beginner, the zoom lens will give you a good start, but eventually, you'll outgrow it and you'll want to invest further in a telephoto lens. The shots you can get with a telephoto lens are stunning with the depth of field. Your subject will be the main feature of the shot and all the rest will look like it's faded away. You could be a hundred yards or more away and your picture will look like your were right there infront of the subject.

Be patient when taking pictures of wildlife. A tripod is another useful investment. It'll keep the camera still as you wait for just the right moment.

Start slowly in wildlife and nature photography. It does requires a great deal of patience, time and or course, good light.
