Millions of people suffer from back aches.
Over 80% of the population will at some point in life suffer from back pain in some form.
Backaches might happen every once in a while or become chronic.
They might occur at different places of the back and be caused by many reasons.
It could be caused by a fall or by lifting something heavy.
  • Spinal deformation caused by some illness might also be the reason.
  • Bad posture in one of the main reasons for backaches.
    It causes muscles.
    ligaments and nerves to be pulled apart or be pressed together causing pain.
  • Stress, high heels, wrong bed or mattress, slipped disk, arthritis and other bone diseases are some of the many reasons to suffer from back pain.
  • Carrying heavy things might cause your body to bend towards the bag or package you carry thus stretching beyond the limits causing pain.
  • Bad work habits, sitting for long hours without getting up and walking around and bad posture might also cause backaches.
  • Sitting for long periods of time on an improper chair, with no support for your lower back or no support for your legs as you sit might cause your spin to stretch in the wrong directions, blood circulation and nerves are also affected by these long hours of sitting in the wrong position.
  • As strange as it may seem smoking is one of the known causes for back pain since it causes malnutrition of the spinal cord.
  • Pregnancies might take their toll of women's back causing backaches years later.
The reasons for backaches vary and so are treatments for them.
A hot shower or tub may loosen up the sore muscles and relieve the pain.
Lifting things sensibly, using the legs instead of back muscles and sleeping on a good mattress can help reduce pain and avoid worsening of the situation.
In any case, a doctors advice is always a good start with backaches.
