Treatments For Sciatica Pain - The Four Most Effective Types

In my experience as a specialist in treating back pain (I am a chiropractor), sciatica is one of the most painful conditions that my patients present with.
I have had patients with symptoms ranging from chronic mild discomfort, all the way to pain so severe they literally could not walk without help.
Universally though, every sciatic pain sufferer wants to know one thing.
What's the fastest, most effective treatment for sciatica pain? The bad news is, not every treatment works the same for every person.
There are however, some treatments that seem to be effective for most of the people, most of the time.
In order to understand what works and why, it helps to understand a little more about why you get sciatic pain.
If you are currently suffering from sciatica you should understand that the standard medical treatment of pain killers and anti-inflammatory medication will not cure you.
You might get some temporary relief but the fact is, you do not have sciatica because of a lack of medication and medication will not correct the imbalance causing your sciatic pain.
That's because sciatica is almost always caused by a muscle imbalances.
Muscle imbalances lead to pressure either on your spinal discs, spinal joints, or the sciatic nerve itself.
Therefore, in order to get long term relief you have to correct the muscle imbalances.
The treatments that I have found that actually work for sciatic are: 1.
Properly applied physical therapy.
The key here is properly applied.
I have had patients come in who have been to physical therapists without success.
When they told me what they were doing at the physical therapist office it was no wonder to me they still hurt.
You have to do it right or it won't work.
2.
Properly applied Chiropractic Care.
Once again, properly applied is the key.
To many chiropractors focus on spinal adjusting alone and ignore the muscles.
Sometimes spinal manipulation alone will work miracles for you but if it doesn't work within a couple of weeks, you most likely need to combine chiropractic with physical therapy.
3.
Acupuncture I have had patients who have tried everything else and were at their wits end, try acupuncture and get excellent relief.
4.
Properly applied home exercise.
The last method involves you taking charge (with help) and doing proper exercise to correct the problem on your own.
Because almost all effective treatment for sciatica pain centers on correction of muscle imbalances, it is entirely possible for you to identify the imbalances that might be causing your pain, and correct them at home.
