Check Visiting Card Design for Spot UV Printing
How to design a perfect business card for UV highlight print.
It is hardly easy to design a good looking business card and more difficult when it involves the Spot UV Highlight. Many of us confuses easily with lamination, embossing, foiling, and exchanges these with one another. For instance, few of our clients do not know what is the difference between Spot UV cards and plain cards with gloss/matt lamination. When we ask them on which portion of the card we want spot uv highlighting they are blank, because they are unaware about what we are referring to.
Meaning of Spot UV highlight
Spot Highlight is a technique in which only certain elements of the cards are highlighted which makes them stand out from the rest of the card and gives it an appeal. This can be applied to either your logo, any specific design pattern which may be floral, line style etc. Also many people do highlighting on the text of the cards along with brand logo. Few people highlight only company name and logo, or employee name only. This technique is applied only after Matt lamination on the card. Spot UV is not applied on the gloss laminated cards.
Difference between lamination and spot uv
1. First and most important difference between both is that former is applied on the complete card against later which is applied on certain portion only as discussed above.
2. For former technique lamination is a prerequisite but not other way round that is it is a two process work lamination followed by spot uv.
3. Regardless to say as it involves two process time taken is more than normal lamination.
4. Lamination is of two type gloss or matt, but there is no such spot uv highlighting.
5. Cost is more.Design check for business cards
You would have come across many visiting cards printing companies who insist on providing your spot part of the card separately along side the card design to be in the black color. Else they can do it for you, provided you have following in order:-
1. Your design file is not low in resolution, it is high resolution file.
2. Never group all the layers of your design, merge and lock as then no way they would be able to extract the portion which you want with black portion.
3. Rough edges can result in inferior results.
If you keep all these things in check then you can hope for a perfect output all the best.
