How did board games begin and why? Playing games have been a popular activity for all ages.
It is believed that board games helped increase pre-literacy skill development during ancient times.
Newborns thrive on playing games with anyone willing to play hide and seek or "pick up the toy" when dropped.
Mature individuals gather with friends to play games for enjoyment or for a social gathering.
Board Games originated more than 4,000 years ago.
It is believed that board games helped increase pre-literacy skill development during ancient times.
Play takes place on a flat board with some type of markers for moving your chips the amount shown on the dice.

Types of Games Games fall into two categories.
Dice or Strategy and Race.
Strategy or Dice games involve rigorous thinking and movement of your chips so your opponent doesn't have the opportunity to get you or send you back to the starting position.
The throw of the dice is the determination of the game.
Playing with two dice instead of one allows you to attain variations of numbers and therefore additional ways to move your chips.
For example: one die allows you to throw only a five , two dice will allow you to move a mixture of ways, one and four, two and three, you get the idea.
Race games involve rolling the dice and moving the amount shown on the dice.
The first player to reach the end they are declared the winner.
Race games are typically a faster paced game than the strategy games that take longer to play.
Board Games are a type of enjoyment for humans and at the same time a way of exercising our mind.
We are not very different from ancient civilizations when it comes to entertainment with games.
Today, we play games with our new born babies to accomplish the goal of developing pre-literacy skills and babies love to play.
There is not an age requirement to play board games.
We play them for the enjoyment!
