There's nothing like listening to a rousing piece of classical music while watching fireworks burst in the air. Here are a handful of orchestras from various cities in the US performing for 2012 Independence Day.

1. A Capitol 4th

Who: Atlanta Symphony Orchestra
When: July 4, 2012 - 8:00 to 9:30 p.m. ET
Where: Live on PBS from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol

If you can't make it to a near by classical concert or Independence Day celebration, stay inside and turn your TV on to your local PBS station. This year's live broadcast (in high-def) will be hosted by "Dancing with the Stars" Tom Bergeron. Special guests include Phillip Phillips, Megan Hilty, Matthew Broderick, Kelli O’Hara, Javier Colon, Josh Turner, Kool & The Gang, Russell Watson, Amber Riley, and the National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of conductor Jack Everly.More »

2. A Star-Spangled Salute

Who: Houston Symphony
When: July 4, 2012
Where: Miller Outdoor Theatre - Houston

Tickets to this annual 4th of July concert are free! Simon & Garfunkel tribute artists Jonathan Beedle and AJ Swearingen join the Houston Symphony and conductor, Michael Krajewski to present a fun evening of American and classical music. With cannons to go along with the 1812 Overture and fireworks following the performance, it should make for an excellent and memorable night for the whole family.More »

3. July 4th All-American Celebration

Who: Atlanta Symphony Orchestra
When: July 4, 2012
Where: Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park - Atlanta

With over a dozen works on the playbill, this Independence Day classical music concert presented by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Tony Award-winning Broadway vocalist Debbie Gravitte, and the US Army Chorus is going to be amazing. 4. July 4th Fireworks Spectacular

Who: Los Angeles Philharmonic
When: July 2-4, 2012
Where: Hollywood Bowl - Los Angeles

5. Salute to America

Who: Cleveland Orchestra
When: July 4, 2012
Where: Blossom Music Center - Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Ohio

Nestled under the stars of the Ohio sky is the Blossom Music Center in the idyllic Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Following tradition, this popular Independence Day celebration concert includes a handful of works by Williams, Grainger, Herbert, Sousa, Mancini, Walters, and Tchaikovsky. 6. Summertime Classics: A New York Fourth

Who: New York Philharmonic
When: July 2-4, 2012
Where: Avery Fisher Hall - New York City

Conductor, Bramwell Tovey, will lead the New York Philharmonic, soprano, Tracy Dahl, and The Hellcats and Jazz Knights from the West Point Band through selections of Gershwin, Bernstein, and various big band hits from the 1940s.More »
