Use Conference Calls to Find Winning Stocks
You are looking for a stock that will fit into your investing stock market system and conference calls can reveal a lot about a company.
A conference call is almost like a press conference done usually by the CFO and CEO of a corporation.
In the conference call the executives usually give a report and assessment of the previous quarter.
They review why they made or lost money and what challenges and opportunities are ahead for company in the coming quarters.
These conference calls can help you gauge if a company is on the path to growth or have hit a snag in its plans.
When looking at the conference call you should be looking for clues on whether or not a company is increasing its profit margins, lowering their debt, growing their market share, and reducing production costs.
These are important factors in figuring out the direction of the company in the future and whether the company is meeting its goals.
Many investors do not listen/read these calls.
In my opinion they are missing out on information that can prove to be critical in picking a great company.
Now usually you can find these on the company website, but I go to http://www.
seekingalpha.
com and download the transcripts of these calls so I can read them at my own pace and highlight important statements.
Because this is such a rarely used tools by a lot of individual investors, it can really give you a jump on even some of the professional investors.
Now I will admit these can be unbelievably boring.
That is why I print out the transcripts so I can walk away for a few minutes if I get overwhelmed.
If you want a leg up on other investors don't forget to read/listen to these conference calls.
Know what you're looking for and when you hear what your looking for, jump in the stock.
Remember, stocks are not just pieces of paper or symbols on a ticker tape.
Stocks represent real companies.
Solid companies equal solid stocks and the conference call can help you decide of a company is solid or not.
