    • 1). Go to the official website of the National Flood Insurance Program, FloodSmart.gov. Find the "One-Step Flood Risk Profile" box on the right side of the Web page. It is the box with the question "How can I get covered?" prominently displayed.

    • 2). Enter your street address, city, state or territory and zip code in the appropriate sections. Select "Yes" or "No" after the word "Residential." Click the "Go" button.

    • 3). Look for the gray box that says "Your Property's Flood Risk." The words "high" or "moderate to low" are highlighted depending on the risk level of the property you entered into the database.

    • 4). Examine the gray box directly below the risk assessment box. Determine how much you will have to pay if you decide to purchase flood insurance for the property.
