THX Partners with Roomcaster:

THX has partnered with Radiient Technologies to co-license and co-brand the Roomcaster wireless speaker system. My previous Roomcaster article provides an overview of the system. This profile updates the previous article and identifies the new features and benefits of the THX Roomcaster system.

THX Roomcaster Transmitter:

The THX Roomcaster system, which consists of a transmitter and up to eight transceivers is capable of wirelessly broadcasting up to eight channels of uncompressed 24-bit audio at distances up to 30 ft.

The system transmitter has HDMI 1.3 inputs/outputs and supports 1080p resolution and up to 8 channels of audio at 192kHz sampling rate. One optical and one coaxial input supports 2-ch PCM or a bitstream up to 96kHz and eight-channel analog inputs are backed by an audio ADC. The system decodes the latest Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio and includes a remote control with volume and mute buttons.

THX Roomcaster Transceiver:

The small Roomcaster transceiver attaches to any powered or passive speaker to receive signals from the receiver. When used with powered speakers the analog output connects the input of speaker. When used with a passive speaker, the Roomcaster system will be available with a rechargeable battery pack.<p>The receiver also functions as a redundant transmitter. If the system detects that one speaker is receiving a weak signal, one of the receivers will automatically re-transmit the signal until performance is restored.
