Classification

• Bush honeysuckle belongs to the Caprifoliaceae plant family, as cited by the University of California Extension. The plant grows in the form of a shrub or bush, and is native to eastern China. Bush honeysuckle is also referred to as winter honeysuckle.
  
  

Description

• The irregularly shaped shrub has a mature height of 6 to 8 feet, with an 8 to 10 feet spread. The semievergreen foliage retains its color in areas with mild winters, but is deciduous in colder regions. The half-inch, white flowers start to bloom at the end of winter and last well into spring.
  
  

Cultural Requirements

• Plant bush honeysuckle in full sun and well-draining soil for best growth. The shrub is hardy in USDA zones 5 through 9, and in temperatures as low as minus 13 degrees Fahrenheit. Water the bush regularly during drought. Propagate new plants with softwood cuttings taken during spring.
