How to Do the Sleeping Thunderbolt Yoga Pose
- 1). Lie on your back with your legs extended and your arms at your sides. Press your palms into the ground and exhale as you lift your legs up and overhead. Allow the hips to roll up and drop the legs over your head.
- 2). Keep your hands pressing into the ground as you stack your hips above your shoulders. Straighten your legs and rest your toes on the floor overhead.
- 3). Bend your right knee and place it in lotus position with the top of the foot pressing into your right thigh where it meets your lower abdomen. With your right arm pressing into the ground, left your left arm and grip your left big toe between thumb and index finger.
- 4). Breathe deeply and slowly, finding your balance in the pose and then lift your right arm behind your back to grip your right big toe with thumb and index finger. Gently pull on your right toe, lift the hips and hold.
- 5). Hold the sleeping thunderbolt pose for 5 deep breaths and then exhale, release your arms down to the floor, release your leg and gently roll your body down. Rest and repeat the pose with the opposite leg.
