A Great Concrete Slab Technique
The slab of concrete may be used for very many purposes, but it is mainly used for foundations of buildings.
When making the foundation of the buildings, gravel may be used to give the slab a firmer grim, and this enables the foundation of the building to support the overlying floors.
If the builders decide to use the gravel, they mix the cement and the sand on a ratio of two to one and three parts of the gravel.
In the building of large structures such as sky scrapers, the builders usually use steel beams to give the structures a better grip to the foundation.
The steel is designed to generally occupy less than one percent of the concrete area.
The concrete slab that is not supported by the steel beams is called a flat slab and is preferred for small structures.
The concrete slab that needs to be supported by the steel plates is however more secure due to the fact that the collapsing of buildings is not an issue that the builders worry about.
Some builders use the flat slab for slightly large building and though risky, this method ends up giving very good lighting for the building once it is complete.
There are also other considerations when deciding to use the slab of concrete.
In modern buildings, the concrete slab is used to take the heat away from the building.
For the purposes of heating the building, there are heating pipes that are mainly installed under the modern buildings.
To cool the buildings, insulating material such as expanded polystyrene is used for the heat absorbing qualities.
The concrete slab can also be used for the purposes of ceilings and also in the repairing of cracks.
The slab of concrete may however be used for different purposes and there are therefore different ways of preparing the concrete slab.
The slab may be prefabricated or in Situ.
The prefabricated concrete is built in factories using standardized measurements that may be used for different construction sites then transported the construction sites.
The other option is the construction of the concrete slab at the construction sites.
This is called in Situ.
These are all used to make the effects of the concrete slab firmer and once finished, the slab may be smoothened using wood block for a smoother finish.
