How to Replace a Door Front on a Maytag Dishwasher
- 1). Turn off the circuit breaker to the Maytag dishwasher. Open the dishwasher door and remove the 11 Torx screws on the sides and top of the inner door panel with a Torx driver.
- 2). Lift up on the inner door panel to separate the inner panel from the outer panel. Disconnect the wires from the inner door panel and the vent and dispenser wash motors. There will be two small wiring harnesses that you can pull straight off with your fingers. Set the inner panel out of your way.
- 3). Lift the door to the half open position and remove the screws that secure the base of the control panel circuit board to the inside of the outer panel with a Phillips head screwdriver. Lay the circuit board inside the dishwasher on a dry towel.
- 4). Hold the door completely open and insert the 1/8-inch dowel rod into the hole on one of the door hinges. This will keep the door open as you finish removing the door panel from the hinges.
- 5). Disconnect the screws that secure the control panel to the outer panel with a Phillips head screwdriver. Slide the control panel off the outer panel and lay the panel on the inside of the dishwasher.
- 6). Remove the two screws on each side of the front panel that secure the panel to the hinges with a Phillips head screwdriver. Slide the outer door front off the hinges.
- 7). Slide the new outer panel over the door hinges and secure the panel with the retaining screws. Position the control panel over the outer panel and secure with the retaining screws.
- 8). Pull the dowel rod out of the hinge hole and close the door halfway. Reattach the circuit board to the control panel and secure the board to the inside of the outer panel with the retaining screws.
- 9). Position the inner door panel into place and reconnect the two wiring harnesses. Secure the inner panel to the outer panel with the Torx screws. Close the door and turn on the circuit breaker to the dishwasher.
