    Removing the Old Lamp

    • First, unplug the television from the wall power outlet, as it's critical to avoid being shocked while replacing the lamp. If the television has been running, wait about 10-15 minutes to allow the lamp to cool down before you handle it, as the lamp can get incredibly hot. Now find the lamp enclosure door. It is normally on the side of the television, on the right side when viewed from the back of the television. You will have to use a Hex Key (or Allen Key) to unscrew the door, giving you access to the lamp enclosure. Once the door is open, use a Philips screwdriver to loosen the two screws on the bottom of the lamp enclosure.

Remove the lamp enclosure from the television. Place the enclosure upside down and remove the screw on the back of the enclosure. Remove the metal cover from the enclosure, and you will be able to see the old lamp inside it. Using a Philips screwdriver, remove the screw attaching a cable to the side of the lamp. Using pliers, remove the nut on the top of the lamp, and detach the remaining cable. Remove the three screws and two metal clips that hold the lamp in place, and then remove the lamp.

    Installing the New Lamp

    • Before moving on, make sure that you are wearing a pair of latex gloves, as the oil on your hands can damage the new lamp, and cause it to burn out early. It is also a good idea to use a clean, non-abrasive cloth to wipe down the lamp before you install it. Now you will do the opposite of your previous steps. Place the new lamp in the enclosure and secure it in place with the two clips and three screws. Secure the cable on the top of the lamp with the nut, and secure the other cable to the side of the lamp with the screw. Place the cover back on the enclosure and secure it to the enclosure with the screw. Put the enclosure back into the television and secure it in place with the two screws on the bottom.

Attach the enclosure door back onto the television using the Hex key. All the parts should be in the exact same place as they were when you started, with the exception of a new lamp in place of the old lamp. You can now plug the television back into the wall and test your new lamp.
