Prostitution Should Be Legalized
Let us compare sex with bread- a natural desire, a natural want. If the state will make all food trade illegal- a person needing bread will beg on the street for bread, or try to steal it, or try to snatch it by force or try to cajole some person in inferior position to give him bread, or try to snatch it from his siblings. Just replace the bread with sex. And you have various crimes- rape, assault, sexual harassment, incest, adultery. Marital rape is in the offing. The state is making various men criminal for a natural want, just by stopping trade to satisfy that natural want. Such laws make men guilty for merely wanting sex, which is very natural- men are born with it. This is a conspiracy of the state to enslave men. Legalizing prostitution is necessary for decriminalization of men.
Women sexuality has always been an enigma. In a recent research "Why Women Have Sex"by Cindy Meston and David Buss has highlighted 200 reasons as to why women have sexual intercourse. The research conclusively proves that women do not want sex, for sexual pleasure only. There are various other things attached to it. On the other hand men want sex for sexual pleasure only.
This biological difference between men and women resulted in control of a man desire by women's monopoly, as only a woman can satisfy the sexual desire of a man. The research itself shows that 10% of the women agreed to have sex for material benefits- the authors revealed,
"The authors revealed that one in ten women admitted having sexual intercourse in return for presents, or lavish meals. Responses included "he bought me a nice dinner" or "he spent a lot of money on me early on", "he gave me gifts early on" and "he showed me he had an extravagant lifestyle"
Human wants are article of exchange. Be it food, clothes, knowledge, intelligence- whatever satisfies human wants. Sex is also a natural human want, although may be present only in men. But society takes care of human wants of different classes- unfortunately the state and society never took care of basic man's desire of sex. On the other hand the law has made prostitution illegal and thereby blocking the legal and acceptable way to trade services to satisfy human want.
It is impossible to eliminate prostitution. Sex is a valid men's need- there is demand for that. When demand is there, supply will be created- legally or illegally. If the supply is created legally, it is a valid business like any other; and if the supply is created illegally, it will result in exploitation of people in that trade. Every society has understood this, and therefore there are demands for legalization of prostitution.
There is moral and ethical issues related to sex trade. Such issues have arisen due to treating sex as something sacrosanct. There is no legal or rational basis of treating sex sacrosanct. I feel that human labour, human intelligence, power to heal are much more sacrosanct than mundane sex- if human society can trade in those things, there is no reason to prohibit trade in sex.
Sex is just like any other natural activity- eating, sleeping, breathing. The way a human want food, and when he gets it feel happy- in the same way, a man want sex, and feel happy when he gets it. Yes if food supply is reduced, say in famine times- human being will be very happy if they get food in that time. Same goes for sex- as various laws has reduced supply of sex, it has become something like an enigma. Such laws and social practices has reduced men to sexual slavery.
These restrictions on sex has resulted in making men guilty for wanting sex, and making them a sex slave based on this very natural desire. To stop this sexual slavery of men, legalization of sex trade is required.
