Any form of modern shelter will in one way or the other have some sort of roof on it. The most common type of roof is steel. Roofs are important to have because they are responsible in helping to protect us against the elements. Sadly, there are many households who often neglect and overlook their roof. In regions that are dry with elevated humidity, it is important that roofs are cleaned at least every two years because they are prone to mold and mildew buildup. This type of situation presents a good opportunity for cleaning contractors as not only is the mold and mildew buildup unappealing, but it can also pose as a serious health hazard, especially if the spores are inhaled and trapped in the lungs.

There are basically two types of cleaning method a cleaning contractor can use to clean your roof. The first is the bleach method and the second is the non-bleach method. A cleaning contractor will usually favor one over the other.

The bleach method is a three step process. The first step would be through the application of a chemical cleaning compound. The second step is washing off the compound with a rotary surface cleaner. The third and last step would be treating the roof with chemicals. If this bleach cleaning method is done correctly, the roof should not need any cleaning for the next two years.

There are many cleaning contractors however that prefers the non-bleach cleaning method. They believe that using chemicals on a steel roof can corrode the nails or screws that hold the roof in place. In fact, there is also a high possibility that the chemical will penetrate the adhesive of the sealant that helps to protect the roof from leaking. This potentially negative effect that chemicals make has led to the resolve of cleaning contractors to use pressure washers instead of chemicals. The advantage to using pressure washers is that its cleaning power is able to wash away all the dirt from your roof. If there are stains that are hard to remove, cleaning contractors resort to hot water pressure washers for additional cleaning power. The hot water and pressure combined can dissolve practically any dirt and stain that clings onto your roof.
