So you want to share some music on your WordPress blog? That makes sense - with high speed internet access being so widely available - sharing media is a big part of a lot of websites.
First off I am not sure what the laws are when streaming music on your website.
It probably differs from jurisdiction to jurisdiction.
It is up to you to figure that out.
The rest of this article will assume you have the rights to play whatever music you want to put on your site.
One thing you do not want to do is have music play automatically.
No one likes that - it is lame.
I am sorry if that was harsh, but it is.
When I am on computer I am usually on Skype talking about business or I am listening to my own music.
Loud music auto starting on a website almost always has me rushing to close the page.
So keep that in mind...
allow your users to choose when they want music played.
With that rant out of the way, here is how to how to add music to your site.
First of all, you need the MP3 of the music.
Once you have said MP3 go to Divshare.
com.
If you don't have an account with Divshare - get one now - it is free and the basic free package is more than enough to get started.
Follow the instructions on Divshare to upload your music.
When you are done uploading you will be able to share that music.
Using Divshare get the "embed" code for the music you have uploaded.
If you uploaded one song the code will be for one song, if you place a number of songs into a folder - the code will be for a playlist.
I won't go over how to do this all on divshare because they provide wonderful documentation and support.
Once you have that code it is very simple to share.
Log into your WordPress powered site and create or edit a page/post.
Once you are looking at the WordPress editor make sure that the HTML tab is selected (this won't work in Visual) then you simply paste the embed code from Divshare.
Depending on how you set it up in divshare you will now have either a single song audio player, or an audio player with a playlist.
Now the fans of the blog can enjoy some of your favorite...
or even your OWN music!
