How to Stop Your Stomach From Growling in Protest

You are in a quiet lecture hall, and everyone is listening intently to the lecturer.
All of a sudden, you hear a loud growl, "GRRRROOWWLL".
You immediately clutch your stomach and look down, hoping no one had noticed, but everyone around you are already laughing their heads off...
Does this scenario sound familiar? With hectic school and perhaps work schedules, break times are sometimes few and far between, causing us to feel extremely hungry before the break.
It can be very embarrassing when your stomach starts to protest so here are some tips that might prevent that from happening.
Always carry some snack in your bag so that you can grab a quick bite whenever you have the time.
For example, some biscuits, fruits, granola or energy bars that can be carried around easily and eaten quickly while moving between classes or before going for a meeting.
You could even bring a piece of plain bread which you can discreetly peel small pieces off and sneak them into your mouth during lectures.
In some schools, lecturers also do not mind student eating during their lectures, so long as they don't bring in things like a full course meal or a plate of rice.
Be sure to check with your lecturer first though as some of them might not be as understanding and feel that students cannot concentrate if they are eating.
And remember to bring all your rubbish out of the lecture theatre to be disposed of! You can also bring some mints along with you, and suck on them when you feel hungry.
Mints can help prevent your stomach from growling, though it wouldn't help to fill you up and you'll still be starving.
Contrary to what some people think, drinking lots of water when you are hungry does not stop your stomach from making loud noises! I have tried this and I end up with a sort of watery gurgling sound from my stomach instead of just growling.
Though these tips can help avoid an embarrassing experience, it is always best to eat proper meals.
If you know that you are not going to have your next break for a long time, try to eat slightly more during this one so that you don't get hungry again too quickly.
