The interaction of dogs and humans dates back for a thousand of years.
Despite this fact, the communication line between the two is still rough at times.
The human component of the pair is usually the more intelligent party, although observing the typical puppy training sessions, you may have legitimate reason to wonder.
Canines are able to understand and react at roughly the metal level of a two-year-old human, although the similarity ends there.
The senses of humans and dogs operates dissimilarly - for instance, the noses of your dogs are definitely more sensitive, the color vision of your pet dog has a different reactive pattern to greens and reds, and their mind's ability to process information is different as well.
If you are considering dog obedience training you have to consider these facts in order to prevent frustrations and your pet's misbehavior.
You have to set aside at least 30 minutes in a day; an hour would be a better idea, for at last the first few months of dog training.
You must begin as young as possible.
For some breeds of dogs, starting at four weeks is not too early, provided that you will not get to expect a lot.
Early on in the puppy training, establish dominance.
You have to be aware that canines have a hierarchy - there are the alpha dogs, the beta dogs and down to the omega dogs.
For a common household, and a well-adapted pet, the owner should always be recognized as the alpha male of the pack.
This first step would either be easier or more challenging based on the breed of your pet and even with individual dogs.
Just as like in humans, there are just some who are simply more assertive that the others.
Commands, collars, leashes and other learning aids are very practical but most significant are the attitude.
Never permit your pet to be the boss.
This rule does not really mean that you should use physical force in order to enforce your human dominance.
There are times that this will be necessary when used appropriately.
In most cases, it is enough to just be firm and the willingness to wait for compliance.
For most cases, putting them on their backs during their young age and putting a firm hand in the center of their chest until such time that they lower their paws- an indication of submission, will be sufficient.
There are also some who reinforce dominance by placing your face close to their, imitating dominant dog behavior can greatly aid.
