How to Troubleshoot an Ignition Switch in a 1991 GMC Truck
- 1). Turn your key all the way in both directions to attempt to remove it in these extreme positions. Also, make sure your car is in the Park position. The cylinder may stop you from turning or removing your key if you are not all the way in Park.
- 2). Turn your steering wheels hard in both directions. The cylinder may also be disabled if the car's wheels are stuck in an awkward position.
- 3). Spray the cylinder and key with a lubricant such as WD-40 to get the cylinder turning again or to pull the key out with less friction.
- 4). Remove the panels around the ignition cylinder to see if there are any wires or parts restricting the cylinder from moving or the key from being removed.
