The Ignition on My 1993 Saab Won't Turn

    • 1). Put your your Saab in park and apply the emergency brake. Make sure your tires are in a neutral and straight position. You can do this by turning the steering wheel to both the left and the right to be sure that the tires are not stuck to either side.

    • 2). Push the key farther into the ignition and try turn it in the opposite direction to try and remove it. If you can, insert it again and try to start the Saab.

    • 3). Stick a wire or flat blade into the ignition slot to see if there is anything there that is preventing you from inserting the key all the way. This will prevent you from turning it as well.

    • 4). Clean the key by soaking it in water. If the key is too dirty, you might not be able to get it inside of the cylinder correctly and it may not turn.

    • 5). Spray the key and the ignition slot with WD-40 lubricant to turn the key more easily with less friction.
