How to Make a Resume for a Bank
- 1). Put your name and contact information in the top left corner of your resume. Write it like you would if you were addressing a letter. This includes your full name, street address, city and state, zip code, phone number and email address. After this section, press the "Enter" key twice.
- 2). Write "Objective" in bold. Turn off the bold function and then press the "Enter" key twice. Write your objective, which is most likely to find a banking position. It is a good idea to add another sentence or two with something like, "To gain more experience in the banking industry." This is a quick chance to show your desire to work at a bank, but keep it professional. Don't write, "I just really love banks!" but instead write, for example, "To grow in a career in the banking and financial industry." Press the "Enter" key twice when done with this section.
- 3). Write "Summary" in bold. Turn off the bold function, press the "Enter" key twice, and then, using bullet points, list three to five short items that sum up your qualifications for a banking job. Some examples include: "Over three years of bank teller experience," "Years of experience working as a team member" and "Knowledgeable of accounting software." Press the "Enter" key twice when finished.
- 4). Write "Experience" in bold. Press the "Enter" key twice and then list each job that shows your qualifications for a banking position. Banking is not only a financial industry, but also a customer-service industry, so non-banking jobs you've held could be worth mentioning. Be sure to mention cash-handling jobs, such as a serving or cashiering position. For each job, list the company name in bold, followed by the time you worked there (for example: June 2004 to August 2006). Press the "Enter" key, turn the bold function off, and then write the city of the job, such as Kansas City, Missouri. Press the "Enter" key twice and then write a quick summary of what you did at the job. Be sure to highlight anything that could contribute to your success in a banking job, such as, "Received high ratings on customer service evaluations" and "Balanced cash drawer daily." Press the "Enter" key twice and repeat this process for each job. When you're done writing the "Experience" section, press the "Enter" key twice.
- 5). Write "Education" in bold. Press the "Enter" key twice, turn off the bold function and list any education you've had past high school. Specify what level you completed, such as "Bachelor's Degree" and what you studied, such as "Economics." Write the institution and your time of graduation. In addition to a college degree, mention any special workshops, certifications, classes or seminars you've attended that might relate to banking.
