    Removing Norton SystemWorks with the Control Panel

    • 1). Press the Windows logo and "R" keys simultaneously to bring up the "Run" dialog box. Type "appwiz.cpl" in the box and press "Enter" to display a list of installed programs in Windows XP, Vista and 7.

    • 2). Click "Norton SystemWorks (Symantec Corporation)," and then click the "Remove" button in Windows XP or the "Uninstall" link in Windows Vista and Windows 7.

    • 3). Click the "Remove All" button.

    • 4). Select the radio button labeled "Restart Windows Now," and then click the "Finish" button. In most cases, the traditional removal method works for uninstalling Norton SystemWorks from the computer. However, if you happen to receive an error message when removing Norton SystemWorks, Symantec distributes two different removal tools that you can use to uninstall Norton SystemWorks from the computer manually.     Removing Norton SystemWorks with the Norton SystemWorks Cleanup Utility (Norton SystemWorks 2002 and Older)

    • 1). Browse to the download page for the Norton SystemWorks Cleanup Utility using the link under "Resources." Click the triangle icon next to "How to use the SYMClean utility," and then click the "FTP Site" link. When prompted for a location to save the file, select the desktop.

    • 2). Double-click the file "SYMCLEAN" on the desktop.

    • 3). Click the "Add/Remove" button.

    • 4). Click "Norton SystemWorks," and then click the "Remove" button.

    • 5). Click "Close" when the process is complete.

    Removing Norton SystemWorks with the Norton Removal Tool (Norton SystemWorks 2003 and Later)

    • 1). Browse to the download page for the Norton Removal Tool using the link under "Resources." Click the orange "Download" button. When prompted for a location to save the file, select the desktop.

    • 2). Double-click the file "Norton_Removal_Tool" when the download is complete. The program extracts itself and loads automatically. Click "Next." The Tool removes Norton SystemWorks and any other Norton products from the computer.

    • 3). Click "Close" when the removal process is complete.
