There is plenty of activity going on this fall in Sandy Springs, a suburb on Atlanta's north side.
Celebrate the cooler weather by attending an outdoor festival or the weekly farmers market.
Get a jump start on holiday shopping at the Sandy Springs Festival or the Elegant Elf Marketplace.
Enjoy some live entertainment and special activities for families and kids.
Here are some of the area's most popular fall events.
Enjoy a weekend full of activities at the Sandy Springs Festival, scheduled for September 22-23, 2012.
This outdoor festival takes place at Heritage Green Park in the heart of the city.
The annual fall festival features a juried artists' market with dozens of vendors.
Shoppers will find paintings, photography, jewelry, metal work, wood, glass, ceramics, and fiber art.
Local businesses and civic organizations will showcase their services.
Festival attendees may also participate in onsite health and wellness screenings.
Younger children can enjoy crafts, pony rides, and a petting zoo.
Older kids and teens may enjoy inflatable rides, a climbing wall, and bungee jumps.
There will be live entertainment both days and a food court.
A 5K and 10K road race will be run on Saturday morning through the city.
This is a qualifier for the Peachtree Road Race.
A Kiwanis Pet Parade is scheduled for 10:30am on Saturday, and prizes will be awarded in several categories.
The Heritage Sandy Springs Museum will be open during the festival.
Hours are 9am-7pm on Saturday and 11am-5pm on Sunday.
Free parking is available in lots at the corner of Lake Forest Drive and Hammond Drive, with shuttle service to the gates.
Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for youth ages 6-17.
The Sandy Springs Farmers Market will remain open on Saturday mornings through October 27.
Shoppers will find fresh local produce, cheese, honey, specialty foods, and baked goods.
The market is held at 235 Sandy Springs Circle NW and is open from 8:30am-noon.
Holiday shoppers can get an early start at the Elegant Elf Marketplace for 2012 on November 9-10.
This "shopping for a cause" event features 65 vendors and artisans from around the world offering unique and original gift items.
Attendees will also be treated to holiday decorating demonstrations.
The entire family can enjoy "Breakfast with the Elves" on Saturday morning.
The Elegant Elf Marketplace will be held at the Sandy Springs United Methodist Church Hitson Activity Center, located at 86 Mount Vernon Hwy.
Hours are 9am-5pm.
Tickets are $8 and may be purchased at the door.
The event is a fundraiser for the Sandy Springs Society, a charitable organization that supports community non-profits that promote the arts, education, heritage, environment, and social services.
