The aim of this practice is to not spend this money on yourself and think of it as gone.
As the money accrues in your box it is not uncommon that you will again and again consider its presence and whether you should spend it or invest it.
Each time you choose to keep it there adding to it more and more, you gradually/instantaneously let go of your attachment to it's value and that is where the alchemy happens, you moving your attention away from it as a thing of value and re-affirming your own fulfillment in the I am presence of self that you are.
This practice is similar to tithing at church but with the practice of losing attachment to the outcome of what the money will be spent on.
I have been practicing this for a few months now and have yet to do anything except keep the money in a special box.
I've noticed that not only have I gradually lost attachment to the money in the box but also my other money; I have money available now in abundance that just sits there and I don't often think about it; sometimes I think about just putting all the money into the box.
I live day to day enjoying the fruits that money cannot procure, just being self, the pure undifferentiated awareness totally and completely fulfilled.
To me this is one of the benefits of this practice.
