Unbuttoned

• By wearing something more dressy and doing a little tie loosening and unbuttoning, you can give a casual edge to an outfit that you might be wearing to an event that is anything but casual. Dress up as you normally would and tie your tie using your preferred knot. When everything is done, loosen up the tie a little and unbutton the top button on your dress shirt's collar. • If you want to wear a tie, but won't be going to anything formal when wearing it, you may want to consider the tucked in look. This kind of tying method places the thinner portion of the tie parallel to the thicker portion of the tie. This kind of style appears best when you use a wider necktie and a fuller knot, such as a Windsor knot. While it might read as informal on paper, this kind of style is gaining in popularity because it adds a casual element to a formal outfit without sacrificing some basic fashion requirements for formal environments, such as a fully buttoned-up shirt.
  
  

Extended Backside

• If you want to give people the appearance of nonchalance, you can tie your necktie so that the skinnier end of it hangs slightly below the thicker end. This kind of tie styling is riskier than the others. Unless it's paired with the right kind of clothing, you could come off as sloppy and naive. This kind of necktie style takes a little confidence to wear and often looks better with skinnier ties that you might wear out to a night club than the ties you'd wear to work.
